Salt is self sustaining
The Salt example
When Salt was in development a lot of test webs where made. One particular had 12,000 pages, 22,000 visitors per month and had been running for seven months. The revenues from the ads on that web paid for the hardware Salt was developed on and even before the project concluded.
Getting the traffic
With a construction of a medium sized web, about 10-20k pages, Salt webs are able to draw in healthy amount of traffic from search engines with ease. Scaling a web is quite easy by using Google´s Webmaster tools and following the indexing of it´s pages. It should be kept in mind that websites with a higher pr value have their pages indexed more quickly than the lower ranked ones.
Building and holding on to traffic
With Salt it´s quite easy to build up healthy web traffic. With a pr 3 domain with about 12,000 pages it takes about 6 months to build a traffic of 20,000 visits per month. After the visitors targets are accomplished the web does need very little updating to hold on to it´s visitors.
From bottom up
Salt is constructed in a way to allow for a bottoms up construction of large websites. The base can be produced quite fast and put online to start registering it´s page with the search engines. Thereafter the website can be updated gradually and pages exported as they are develop further. This method of construction is highly effective and saves a lot of time when it comes to getting into the search engine index.
Disclaimer
No guaranty can be given on Salt webs visitors numbers. The reason being that it´s quite easy to build bad websites that are out of context or do not relate the correct keywords for search marketing terms needed.
